From clean, fresh, mature cane
South Nyanza Sugar Company 2025 Limited (SonySugar) was established in 1979 in South Western Kenya, Migori County. The company premises and nucleus estate cover 2,492 hectares, supported by an out-grower cane area of 15,500 hectares.
SonySugar serves over 25,000 cane farmers spread across the cane-growing zones of Migori, Homa Bay, Narok, Kisii and Nyamira counties — contributing significantly to Kenya's Vision 2030 through the manufacture of quality sugar and associated products at an installed capacity of 3000 TCD.
The company's stewardship has evolved over the decades, and in 2025 the Government of Kenya leased the company to Busia Sugar Limited, energising SonySugar for a new era of growth, efficiency and customer focus.

Added nutritional value from minerals in residual molasses. Trace molasses gives it a distinctive colour and a deeper, richer sweetness.
One of Kenya's largest producers, with a capacity of 60,000 tonnes per annum. Every stage is engineered for quality, efficiency and care for the environment.
Hydro unloaders, cranes and loaders feed the cane; choppers, cutters and fibrizers open cells for efficient juice extraction.
A series of roller mills crush prepared cane to extract maximum juice. Bagasse is conveyed to the boilers as fuel.
Clarification, multiple-effect evaporation and vacuum-pan boiling concentrate the syrup into sugar crystals (massecuite).
Centrifuges separate crystals, which are washed, dried and graded into high-quality granulated sugar for packaging.
Nothing is wasted — every by-product is returned to value.
